Phase 3 was the third album released by the Riverdales and their first new album in five years. It was also the first Riverdales' album to feature drummer Dan Lumley. It was issued by 1-4-5 Records in 2003. The group stopped recording following the record's release.

On October 7, 2008, the reissue of Phase 3 was released by Asian Man Records, who had also reissued the group's first album Riverdales. The record was completely re-mixed and re-mastered, and included five previously unreleased songs and new artwork. Four of the bonus tracks were totally new and one was a new arrangement and recording of "Mental Retard" (from the Storm the Streets album). Although the reissue was advertised as having re-recorded vocals, Ben Weasel has stated that this is not correct»http://benweasel.mu.nu/archives/275070.php. The lyrics to the song "Last Stop Tokyo" are printed on the back of the CD insert. This was the first time that any lyrics were printed on a Riverdales' release.
